FYI:

I have found this out the hard way; I had to change out the motherboard in my wife's computer no big deal; right? wrong. Windows 10 (free version), remember when they did that? yeah, there is something they didn't tell you that if make a hardware change especially the motherboard it "forgets" that you had it and tells you that you must re-activate windows 10 sounds simple; uh, no I've been at it for 4 hours!

Read and heed this:

You should have asked, I could have told you how to prevent that problem. I just changed everything in my PC and it didn't question a thing.

If you can't resolve it, see if you can still download MS Media Creation Tool and still get a free copy of Windows 10, I did a few weeks ago.

Download Windows 10

Been there and done that more times than I care to remember; also have been thru two microsoft techs who are just as stumped.

What a joke.

Finally got it done; re-formatted both drives; made the creation tool (again); used an old windows 7 key I had and presto! all better; windows 10 now on SSD and digital key back where it is suppose to be.

Windows 10 works well it's the convoluted BS you gotta go thru to put it back if you install a different motherboard!
